Why Chelsea are no longer the big club they use to be

This is according to football consultant, Ian McGarry, in his recent statement, he made it known that the Blues are no longer one of the big clubs they used to be because they signed Gonzola Higuain, who couldn’t get playing chances in Juventus.

He also pointed to the Blues move of signing former Liverpool star, Fernando Torres to show how far they have fallen.

“We’ve already seen an example of this in the January window when Chelsea brought in Gonzalo Higuain, who was already out on loan from Juventus because he wasn’t playing well at Juventus,” he told The Transfer Window podcast.

“His performances have been average at best. He’s also 30 or 31 now, it just shows you how far Chelsea have fallen, if you like, from the state of the elite super rich, which they still are theoretically.

“But you think five, six years ago they broke their own transfer record in January to buy Fernando Torres, who of course if they done their due diligence and found out he had a dodgy knee then they might not have paid that money for him, but effectively they bought one of the best strikers in the world in the January window.

“And now they’re getting a guy on loan who can’t even get a game at Juventus.”
