Arsenal! Don’t Don’t Do It

Reports surfacing is that Arsenal are ready to make a shock swoop for Manchester United midfielder Juan Mata in January.

The Manchester United midfielder, who joined Man United for £37.1m, is currently into the final year of his contract and there is no clarity as to whether the club are going to offer the Spaniard a new one.

Though Mata is keen to extend his stay at Old Trafford, the midfielder’s decision might depend on whether he will feature on a regular basis under Jose Mourinho this season.

The midfielder has made just 4 starts in the Premier League this season but he doesn’t seem like an ideal choice for the Gunners at this stage.

The Arsenal manager has previously coached Mata during their time together at Valencia and the Spanish coach is said to be a huge admirer of the midfielder.

Arsenal midfielder Aaron Ramsey is also set to leave the club when his deal expires in the summer, which means the Gunners will be one man short in the midfield department.

Given that Mata is now 30 years old and doesn’t really play in the same position as the Welshman, it is a hard case to justify the transfer move.

The Spanish midfielder was once one of the most exciting prospects in the Premier League and his attributes definitely atone his qualities.

Mata is predominantly used as a right-winger or a right-midfielder and the Gunners are currently well equipped in these positions.

The likes of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Alex Iwobi, Danny Welbeck and Henrikh Mkhitaryan are all players who currently ply their trade up front for Arsenal.

All these players are also much younger and have been more prolific than the Spaniard in recent times. This means that Unai Emery won’t really be receiving an upgrade in the position.

Though Mata is capable of playing as a central attacking midfielder, Arsenal star Mesut Ozil is currently playing some of his best football under Unai Emery this season.

The German has never looked better in an Arsenal kit and is flourishing as the No.10 that everyone wants him to be.

Bringing Mata in would only disrupt the German’s flow and momentum.

Mata is definitely talented and one of the most technically gifted players out there but what Arsenal need at this moment are game-changers in their squad.

Young stars who possess great potential are required to take the Gunners back to the top and that is why Unai Emery should look elsewhere and forget about Mata.

Arsenal Edge Closer To Denis Suarez Transfer

North London giants Arsenal have moved closer to a transfer for Spanish international midfielder Denis Suarez after they made a breakthrough in their bid to him from La Liga giants Barcelona during the ongoing January transfer window.

The Daily Express say that the North Londoners are closing in on a move for Denis Suarez after both parties reached an amicable point over his transfer.

Arsenal initially wanted a loan deal with the option to buy the talented midfielder in the summer but Barcelona were adamant that they will only sanction a permanent transfer for the 25-year-old.

It was revealed that both clubs have agreed for Denis Suarez to join Arsenal on loan for the rest of the season with an obligation to make the deal permanent for £18m when his loan contract ends in the summer.

The Spaniard will reunite with compatriot Unai Emery having played under the Arsenal manager at Sevilla in 2015.

Denis Suarez has been identified as a major transfer target for the Gunners in this transfer window by Unai Emery alongside Sevilla midfielder Ever Banega but will have to pay his €20m release clause rather than a loan deal in the case of the Barcelona midfielder.

Arsenal Legend Delighted With Bid To Sign Wolves Skipper

Wolverhampton Wanderers captain Conor Coady is the latest defensive target to be linked with a transfer to Arsenal in this January transfer window.

The Arsenal interest in the Wolves defender has been backed by club legend Ian Wright who praised him for his performance in the Premier League clash between the two sides at the Emirates Stadium earlier in the season.

Conor Coady came through the ranks at Premier League table toppers Liverpool before then Reds boss Brendan Rodgers sanctioned his sale to Huddersfield Town in 2014 immediately after he had finished a loan spell at Championship club Sheffield United.

He struggled in the Wolverhampton Wanderers midfield before club manager Nuno Espirito Santo changed his position to a centre back.

The English defender has been the focal point of a three-man defence for Wolverhampton Wanderers since the start of last season when the Midlands club won promotion to the Premier League.

He has been a key performer for Wolves on their return to the Premier League leading to calls about a possible invitation to the England national team setup under manager Gareth Southgate.

Coady has also been linked with a move back to Liverpool who have had injury problems with their central defenders in recent weeks.
