Jose Mourinho facing punishment after final whistle row at Stamford Bridge
United boss, Jose Mourinho and Chelsea assistant, Marco Ianni could be in big trouble with the FA after Saturday’s fight on the sidelines.
The FA is waiting for the referee’s report before deciding if any additional action is required on the ugly scenes.
The head of Manchester United, Mourinho, already faces an indictment by the governing body for the use of rude language after the victory of his team over Newcastle two weeks ago.
Mourinho was opposed to the way Chelsea coach Ianni celebrated Ross Barkley’s last draw, which caused a riot in the tunnel.
The Portuguese received an apology from Ianni and the manager of Chelsea, Maurizio Sarri, and said he considers that the matter is closed, but it remains to be seen if the FA opts to take more action in relation to the incident.
Sarri also said he would talk to his assistant again on Sunday.
The two goals by Anthony Martial seemed ready to win the three points for United until the intervention of Barkley at the tail end of the match.
For the second game in a row, United came from behind to lead, and Ashley Young has now called on the Red Devils to start the games the way they have finished them lately.
