Mourinho to drop skipper for Champions league opener

Manchester United will be playing the first match of their Champions League campaign today.

But coach, José Mourinho has revealed he will not be including right back, Antonio Valencia in the starting lineup due to the fact that they will be playing on a synthetic pitch.

United’s first match of their campaign will be played away to Swiss side Young Boys on a synthetic 3G turf and because of this, the United boss has decided not to include the team’s skipper in the match to avoid worsening the knee injury the defender is already nursing.

We decided not to include Antonio Valencia in the match because his knee is not a knee that needs an artificial pitch at all, Mourinho told reporters at his press conference prior to the game.

In the situation of Valencia, we have to protect his clinical situation, apart from that, we go with everything we have and we have to try and win.

Then, we returned Luke Shaw back to the squad.

I already said that Luke Shaw is playing and, apart from him, we have Diogo, Ashley Young and Darmian ready to play.

Mourinho, has insisted that he does not consider the Young Boys turf as an excuse not to deliver the result.

I do not want to use the pitch, especially before the match, as a possible excuse for a poor performance, he added.

Marcus Rashford is going to be handed a chance by Mourinho, with the forward ready to partner Romelu Lukaku in front.

Kalidou Koulibaly and Douglas Costa move to Old Trafford may have to wait till summer

Man Utd coach, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has informed the club’s hierarchy he is in need of a new center back defender.

To avoid a similar scenario that played out under coach Jose Mourinho, the Red Devils are ready to give the interim coach the financial support.

Man Utd have seen Senegalese international, Kalidou Koulibaly as the best choice to bring over to Old Trafford to tighten their defense.

According to the report, the Red Devils are ready to part ways with the sum of £98 million to see the Napoli defender arrive at Old Trafford.

However, a new report from Napoli coach, Carlos Ancelotti has made it known that the center back defender will not be leaving in the ongoing January transfer window.

This means Man Utd will have to wait till the end of the season to give it another trial.

Man Utd have also been linked with a move to make a swap deal that will see Douglas Costa move to Old Trafford and Paul Pogba make a return to Turin.

However, Juve in their latest response have disclosed that they can consider the deal at the end of the season.

Does Man Utd need to join in the race for Yannick Carrasco?

A new report has made it known that Man Utd have joined the likes of Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur in the race to sign Belgium international, Yannick Carrasco.

According to the report, the Red Devils are ready to pay the sum of £173,000 per week for the striker.

Yannick Carrasco’s wife in a statement also confirmed Man Utd interest in the player.

His wife in a statement said that United are “very interested” in signing him. She claimed (RTBF):

“Yes, they’re (Man Utd) very interested. I won’t hide it from you, but nothing has been signed.”

It is however surprising that the Red Devils can be pushing for a move to sign the Belgian striker.

This is because they have the duo of Marcus Rashford and Romelu Lukaku performing well at the center forward.

Anthony Martial is in top form with Alexis Sanchez playing the backup role effective.

The duo of Jesse Lingard and Juan Mata are also effective.

With these players at the forefront, Man Utd can break pass any defense.

Therefore, there is no need to sign a new attacking player rather they should focus on signing a new defender.

One reason that can stop Philippe Coutinho from moving to Old Trafford

It is no secret that Man Utd are making moves to bolster up their defense in the January transfer window and they have been linked with moves to sign Kalidou Kaloubali from Napoli.

However, another report has made it known that the Red Devils are keen on signing a new striker in the person of Brazil star, Philippe Coutinho from Barcelona.

Phillipe Coutinho is likely to make a return to the English premier league owing to the limited playing chances at Camp Nou.

This comes one year after he left Liverpool in a mouthwatering deal of over £140 million to Barcelona.

But the report has made it known that the Brazil star is not keen on leaving the Catalans this January but a move can take place in the summer and the Red Devils are already monitoring the situation.

A report has made it known that Philippe Coutinho will not be able to leave for England because of his family.

The Brazil star’s wife is not keen on leaving Spain to start another life in England again.

Moreover, Barca coach, Ernesto Valverde has made it known that Coutinho is an important player in the team.
