Firmino leaves it late to hand Liverpool a winning start in a 5-goal Champions League thriller

Liverpool has to wait for Roberto Firmino to leave the bench to help them get off to a winning start in the Champions League in what was an exciting match TL watch on day one of the Champions League this season.

Firminho didn’t start the match due to an eye injury sustained during the weekend so Daniel Sturridge started the match instead.

Sturridge immediately made an impact, scoring the opening goal 30 minuted into the game after connecting with a brilliant cross by Andy Robertson.

James Milner doubled from the penalty spot six minutes later when Georginio Wijnaldum was brought down in the box, but Thomas Meunier pulled one back to give PSG a lifeline before halftime, with a sublime finish from a cross.

Star striker, Mo Salah had a goal disallowed due to a Sturridge foul on the goalkeeper, but Sturridge himself should have put the ball in the net.

He also missed a free header moments after.

Sturridge was then substituted, giving way to Firmino in the final minutes and the stadium was fires up when Kylian Mbappe scored the equalizer.

Firminho left it very late to make an impact before scoring the goal that closed the game and handed the Reds a much needed win to kick start their Champions League campaign.

Manchester United have been given a lift in their quest for Matthijs De Ligt after he dismissed a transfer move to Barcelona, as indicated by reports.

The 19-year-old centre-back has developed as one of European football’s most exciting player this summer in the midst of reports Ajax are set up to give him a chance to leave for a fee of around €80million.

Man United are supposedly clear favourites to beat rivals Man City and Liverpool to sign Leicester City midfielder James Maddison.

Maddison was a standout amongst the most great midfielders in the Premier League last season, with the previous Norwich City man scoring seven goals and seven assists in his first campaign in England’s top flight.

Also, it appears as though Maddison’s form has gotten the attention of some of England’s top clubs, as the Daily Star are reporting that all of Man United, Liverpool and Man City are in the chase for the 22-year-old, with the Englishman being valued at around £60M.

Also, it appears as though United are driving the race to sign the player, as the Sun are reporting that the Red Devils are ‘clear favourites’ to sign Maddison, with Betway having them at chances of only 4/11.

Maddison would be a quality signing for United to make, as he’s shown with his incredible display for Leicester this year that he has what it takes to compete with the best the Premier League.

Man United appear to lead the race to sign Leicester man Maddison this summer.

Maddison would be a decent signing for United, paying £60M for him may be somewhat steep.

Maddison has been impressed this year, anyway paying that much for a player who’s just had one year in England’s top flight may be excessive in certain people’s eyes.

In any case, United unquestionably have the funds to get him this summer regardless of the fee, it will be surprising to see the player remain with the foxes this summer.
