Kenneth Omeruo loaned for the seventh time, this time to Leganes
The Nigeria international will have to wait another season for a chance in the first team at Stamford Bridge, as he is ready for life in Spain.
Kenneth Omeruo joined Leganés on a loan contract from Chelsea.
The player had been presented along with other Leganés players to the fans on Tuesday night, but the deal was officially announced by the Blues on Wednesday morning, with Friday set as the day he will be officially unveiled.
Before the start of the 2017-18 campaign, Omeruo, who once revealed his frustration at the lack of opportunities at Chelsea, renewed his contract with the former English champions until 2020 and was immediately sent for another spell at Kasimpasa.
The Nigeria defender made 28 appearances in the Turkish Super Lig, scoring a goal in the process.
His form also saw him in Nigeria’s selection for the 2018 FIFA World Cup this summer where he played twice, impressing in the Super Eagles victory over Iceland.
The temporary move to the Spanish league is his seventh since he signed for the London team from Standard Liege in January 2012.
And he will hope to feature regularly I’m Mauricio Pellegrino’s team, and hopefully, impress Chelsea’s new coach, Maurizio Sarri, enough to get his elusive debut in a competition at his parent club.
Leganes kicks off its 2018-19 LaLiga campaign with a tie against Athletic Bilbao next Monday.
